Daisy May Wegner
Semi-Finalist
Category Winner - Traditional Country 1

'My ultimate musical experience would be to sing on the Grand Ole Oprey stage' says 18-year old Daisy May Wegner, Finalist at the Maton Muster Talent Search 2007 and Telstra Road to Tamworth Heat Winner. 'I love to sing the classic ballad songs, more than the country rock, but I just love singing country music so it doesn't matter to me.'

Daisy May, from North Queensland city of Mackay, seems set for a big future in Country Music. She had only just started with the "Kids Music Club" in Mackay when she had the chance to sing at the Mackay Country Music Festival. At the 2001 Highway Number One Country Music Festival in Mackay, she took home second place in the Juvenile Vocal and third place in the Junior/Juvenile Heritage section. In the same year Daisy May attended her first festival outside Mackay. She came third in the Juvenile Vocal section at the Capricornia District Country Music Festival in Rockhampton. She returned the following year and gained enough points to be the Juvenile Overall Champion. In 2003 at the age of 13, Daisy May came home from Rockhampton with the Junior Overall Trophy, which she also won in 2004.

The next year at 14, Daisy entered the C.C.M.A Talent Search at Tamworth. She made it to the final and received the Barry Thornton Memorial Award.

While in Tamworth Daisy May also performed on the Brian Young Show, The Legends Of Guitar Show, the North Queensland Show Case and with the Balladeers, Lindsay Waddington and Neil Buttsworth.

She won the overall trophy in the Junior Bush Balladeer Quest which included an invitation to perform at LBS studios opening day in Moonbi. She also sang on the Brian Young Show, Keith Jamieson Show and The Balladeers Hit Parade and Yodeling Spectacular.

Daisy May has come along way in the few short years and she's performed with some of the biggest names in Australian Country Music, sharing the stage with the likes of Phil Emmanuel, Lindsay Waddington, Neil Buttsworth, Brian Young, Charlie Boyter, Lindsay Butler, Shaza Leigh, Peter Coad and the Coad Sisters and Ron Saddler.
