In August last year Liam was awarded Overall Winner of the Maton Talent Search at the Gympie Muster after winning Country Rock Heat 1. Part of the Muster prize pool included a scholarship to attend the 2008 CMAA Australian College of Country Music in January. Liam was already a Graduate of Tamworth Camerata in 2007 and had achieved a great deal of success on the talent quest circuit winning a number of competitions including being the Overall Junior Winner at the Urban Country Music Festival in 2007 and winning the Senior Songwriting Award at the Queensland Champion of Champions in the same year. Liam has also secured an endorsement with Bullzye Gear Australia.

At this year's Tamworth Country Music Festival, Liam performed at a number of venues and events including the ACMF Roll of Renown Concert, Maton Guitars Showcase, Buttercup Open House Concert, Wests Leagues Club, RUM Showcase, Toyota Country Theatre and the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre (TREC).
