ADAM JAMES

Once in a while an artist appears from out of nowhere and captures your imagination and heart with their passionate and heartfelt songs. Adam James is one of those artists.

Born in the New South Wales coastal town of Macksville and raised in Brisbane - Adam James - is a young Indigenous Australian from the Moreton Bay area of Australia. Adam grew up listening to the popular country artists of the time on the family record player. He developed love for the likes of Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Jimmy Buffet while idolizing fellow Indigenous singer/songwriters including Kev Carmody, Archie Roach and Troy Cassar-Daley.

As a teenager, Adam dabbled in acting with roles in Network 10's hit television show "Medivac", ABC's "Wayne Manifesto" and a theatre production for the Brisbane Festival called "The Dreamers". After completing his Creative Industries degree at QUT in 2003 Adam realized that it was music that was his calling.

Playing guitar for over 10 years Adam has been developing his vocals under the watchful eye of renowned vocal coach, Venetta Fields - who is best known for her work with John Farnham.

Adam has been creating a stir in country music over the past 2 years with performances at a number of major music events including Woodford Folk, Tamworth, QUT Urban and Mildura Country Music festivals, The Gympie Muster, The Dreaming Festivals and various national NAIDOC Week Celebrations. He was also a Grand Finalist at the 2008 Toyota Star Maker Quest, which is held annually during the Tamworth Country Music Festival and has launched the careers of Keith Urban, Lee Kernaghan, James Blundell and Gina Jeffreys among many.

Adam James has released his debut titled "Messages & Memories", and comprises 8 outstanding contemporary country songs which are honest and full of character. The first single released in October of 2007 was the hauntingly beautiful "Many Who Pretend". Currently, James has released his second single titled 'The Country Singer', which has received national airplay on both community and commercial radio stations moving through a number of charts. Both singles have cemented him a place as one of the hottest new stars in Country Music today. The album features the crème of the Australian Country Music fraternity including Mick Albeck, Michel Rose, Tim Wedde, Brad Burgen, Geoff Simpson, Camille Te Nahu and Kevin Bennett.

Adam James - is an exciting young artist who takes his listener on a musical journey which is reflective of a life lead from the heart and full of rich Australian culture seen through the eyes of a young Indigenous man.
