AMBER NICHOLSON
This little
package of dynamite has the stage presence of a seasoned pro wrapped up in
a sweet seventeen package.
Blame
it on the radio. That is what Amber Nicholson says sparked her interest in
music. As a toddler, she would sing along to the radio and memorise the words
to each song; a natural start to a career decision.
Amber
was in attendance at the 31st annual B.C. Country Music Awards show held at
the Red Robinson Show Theatre in Coquitlam on October 28th 2007. She sat amongst
many other talented artists and musicians nominated for 2007 awards at this
the award show and proudly walked away with the award for "Album of the
Year" and "Website of the Year"
At the
age of eleven, Amber began attending events at CAMEO (Canadian Association
for Musical Empowerment & Opportunity) where local artists are encouraged
to hone their skills. Monthly awards are presented through CAMEO for the most
promising teen vocalist; Amber has been presented with this award six times.
She was also presented with the CAMEO 'Teen Vocalist of the Year' award.
The BC
Music Association presented Amber with the 2006 Ray McAuley Horizon Award;
an award given to the best new performing artist for their achievements, live
performances and contributions to Country Music in British Columbia.
At the
age of fifteen, Amber was discovered by her current management, DA Entertainment
and has been performing on the big stage ever since. She has opened for; Johnny
Reid, Aaron Pritchett, Prairie Oyster, The Cruzeros and has performed three
times at the prestigious Merritt Mountain Music Festival.
Grammy
nominee, singer, songwriter Jamie O'Neal gave Amber permission to record and
release "Girlfriends" one of O'Neal's self-penned songs. Amber has
also had the opportunity to perform the song live on stage with Jamie. "Girlfriends"
is included on Amber's debut CD.
The first
single "Diggin' In the Dirt" released in July 2007 garnered airplay
across Canada. Her second single, "Afraid To Love" was released
August 27, 2007.
Amber
has just finished up in Nashville, Tennessee representing Canada at the prestigious
CMA Global Artist Party at The Stage on Broadway. She was busy on stage strutting
her stuff, as she performed durring Nashville's four-day celebration of country
music that attracts nearly 200,000 fans from around the world!
This year
Amber will be embarking on a cross Canada tour, followed by an exciting tour
of Australia as she promotes her music. Be sure to stay tuned in for news
