CHUBBY RAE
& THE ELEVATORS
The blues
is supposed to make you feel better and a Chubby Rae & the Elevators show
is all about feelin' good. You'll often see sweating dancers in friendly argument
with Chubby Rae & the Elevators about who's having more fun, them or the
band?
Chubby
Rae & the Elevators have been making converts to their vibed-up, good-time
blues since their first gig in July 2000 and since then, Marisa Quigley, aka
Chubby Rae, the 6'2" redheaded soulful powerhouse, has been singin' the
blues like there's no tomorrow. The Elevators are dedicated blues men. With
Jim Dyson, the "Boss of the Boogaloo" on guitar and slide and Karl
Inderberg and Craig Chiller holding it all together on drums and bass, Chubby
Rae & the Elevators dig deep into blues traditions to lay down grooves
that even a corpse could move to. That's what the blues is for!
Marisa,
Jim and Craig are continually writing songs, and the set list includes many
original tunes 14 of which were recorded in 2005 for their award winning current
album "She Gets Unruly" released in December 2005. The band's debut
CD album "Live at St Andrews", which continues to sell strongly,
was released independently to critical and popular acclaim in September 2002.
Chubby
Rae & the Elevators never fail to wow audiences and industry people alike
with their uplifting and infectious shows. After busking to large crowds at
The Queenscliff Music Festival in 2000 & 2001 they were invited to play
The Best of the Fest in June 2002, the Festival proper in '02, '03 & '05
and now regularly play the Blues Train out of Queenscliff. Chubby Rae &
the Elevators are in demand for Festivals as diverse as the Festival of the
Sea, Barwon Heads, the Geelong Waterfront Festival, the Mordialloc Fine Food,
Wine and Music by the Bay Festival and the Great Southern Blues & Rockabilly
Festival, Narooma. In 2003 the band was recognised for their hard work and
dedication by the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society, winning "Emerging
Talent" & "Band of the Year" at the Vic/Tas Blues Awards
and were runners-up in the MBAS Blues Performer of the Year 2003 competition.
In 2006 Chubby Rae & the Elevators again won "Band of the Year"
at the Vic/Tas Blues Awards for their new album, "She Gets Unruly"
and in 2007 won both Album of the Year and Female vocalist of the Year at
The Australian Blues Music Festival CHAIN wards. Chubby Rae & the Elevators
have played the Melbourne International Music & Blues Festival, the East
Coast Blues & Roots Music Festival, Blues at Bridgetown, the Launceston
Blues Festival, Guildford Blues & Roots Festivals, Thredbo Blues Festival,
The Australian Blues Music Festival, Goulburn, Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival,
the Mildura Blues Festival. The Gympie Muster, the Wangaratta Jazz & Blues

Chubby
Rae & the Elevators continue to play clubs and pubs around country and
coastal Victoria, Melbourne and the Mornington peninsula, and where ever they
play, Chubby Rae & the Elevators rock up a storm, so put on your dancin'
shoes and let your hair down baby, we're gonna have a natch'l ball.
