KARL BROADIE

Scottish born roots singer-songwriter Karl Broadie has accolades from around the globe for both his live performances & his recordings. The ABC Music Recording Artist is rapidly being recognised as one of Australia's most unique and dynamic songwriters. Karl has seen two of his albums top the Americana charts in the UK, as well as playing highly successful tours in the UK. Winning the Americana/Roots category of the prestigious International Songwriting Competition for his hit single 'Black Crow Callin' and with two Golden Guitar Nominations under his belt, most recently for Best Vocal Collaboration with country music star Dianna Corcoran on 'Count Your Blessings'. Karl's latest Album 'One Million Emeralds' has been received with much love, praise & recognition.

2007 welcomed further acclaim as Karl was invited to play the special guest spot on a sold out national tour with Austin, Texas-based Roots singer-songwriter Patty Griffin on her very first tour of Australia, which proved to be a hugely successful and inspiring tour for both the musicians and the fans.

Recently added to the roster on Mushroom Music, early 2008 saw Karl make his first songwriting visit to Austin & Nashville, which included co-writing with Kim Richey, Rebecca Lynn Howard and many more.

With a new album on the horizon. Internationally acclaimed producer Craig Ross whose credits include: Patty Griffin's 'Impossible Dream' and Natalie Merchant's 'Ophelia' will be at the helm… there's much to look forward to in the year ahead.

Karl Broadies finely crafted songs and "sweetly cracked" vocal style have drawn comparisons to some of the world's finest songsmiths; Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), Mike Scott (Waterboys) and Australia's very own, Paul Kelly…Karl has the ability to capture the attention and heart of a listener in just a few bars of music.
