NICKI GILLIS
Nicki
Gillis has recently come to the fore with the release of her debut album "Lucy's
Daughter". (Independent Country)
Lucy's
Daughter was well overdue on its release in Dec 2006 and instantly appeased
the swelling number of fans that Nicki had previously accrued through years
of live performances at festivals and venues. The album has since had three
single releases through NFS and CMC, (national country music radio and TV).
The first single from the album to be released in Dec 06 was "Leavin'
you for myself", it peaked nationally on the country music charts at
#7 and the video clip is at #23 on CMC. The Second single released in May
07, "Remember me" peaked nationally on the country music charts
at #7 and #31 on CMC. The third single released in Dec 07 "Honey I don't
have time" is currently at #6 on the national country music charts and
rising and the video clip on CMC is currently at #32 and rising. Although
Nicki has had an extraordinary amount of live performance experience at festivals,
private functions, clubs and hotels, her show is becoming much more refined
and focused since the release and charting success of "Lucy's Daughter",
Nicki exudes class and star quality to audiences that now sing along to her
songs. This was evident at the 2007 Gympie Muster, the 2007 Galston festival
where she won the Coopers Golden Saddle Award and the 2008 Tamworth Festival.
Nicki has also won the hearts and minds of hundreds of Australian service
men and women with strong performances in Iraq and the Solomon Islands. Nicki's
niche lays in her ability to appeal to women through her lyrics and live persona.
Nicki is a hard working wife and mother of two girls and like nobody else
she wears it like a badge of honor. This is reflected in her original lyric,
song themes and her powerful live performances. Nicki is fast becoming a bastion
for modern women and mums throughout Australia.
In the
past twelve months, Nicki has garnered much press; both radio and print, relating
to the demand for her music and image as well as her commitment to entertaining
our Aussie troops abroad. The most significant press engagements in this time
have been two appearances on Channel Nines "Mornings with Kerrie-Anne"
and a full page spread with Nicki alongside other young stars of Australian
country music in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph. |
