SHIRAZ
The original
group 'Shiraz' was made up of three cousins, Kylie Champion, Peta Duffin,
and Kelly Shun. These three young women were once part of a kid's band called
'Breakouts', who were good enough to be invited to perform at the World Expo
in 1988. Add to the mix, Kelly's younger siblings, Katie Maree Uren, and Daniel
Uren on guitar, and Peta's Mum, (and Aunty to the others), Robyn Lavery, and
we give you a real Family band.
Country
Music Festivals all around North Queensland, within the fold of the Dalrymple
Country Music Club, is where this band was moulded, with the girls beginning
competition when they were only five or six years old. Robyn herself, has
competed in festivals, including the Charters Towers Country Music Festival,
for many years. They have all had varying degrees of success over the years,
but taking out the Grand Final at Charters Towers 2008, has surely given them
their highest prize ever.
Great
vocal ability and a talent for natural harmony, this group performs many original
songs, and always do credit to all covers they perform. Their love of what
they are doing, and the perfect blend of their voices wows their audiences,
as they dance, swing or seriously deliver their special style of entertainment.
Such is their versatility, that they can form any mix of duos, or trios, and
each one of these singing ladies is a talented solo performer.
This family group has done the hard yards, performing locally for many years.
Now, at last, it is their turn to shine. |
