THE BOBKATZ
Comprising
Garry Koehler & Robert Mackay, The Bobkatz hail from popular Seaside City
of Hervey Bay in Queensland.
The Bobkatz
collaboration combines Garry's song writing and vocals with Rob's multi instrumental
talents and harmonies. They like to call their music "Organic Country
that depicts real stories of real people and real places. Brisbane Author
and Music Journalist Ritchie Yorke described the The Bobkatz music with "
its that out on the patio kind of feel that takes it to another place"
The Bobkatz
released four singles from their current "Sweet Water" album (Produced
by Mike Flanders) between May 2006 and January 2008 being "Welcome to
Queensland", "Little River Town (Howlong)", "Sweetwater"
and "The Man in the Picture".
Whilst
all singles received significant radio airplay around Australia, The Man in
the Picture was the most successful and made the National Top 30 Country Singles
Chart. Three of the singles all made the Country Music Channel Top 30.
The Bobkatz
national growing popularity was confirmed by packed venues at their appearances
at Tamworth 2008 along with TIARA nominations in both 2007 & 2008 for
best Duo as well as being a finalist in the World Alliance Radio Presenters
(WARP) New Talent of the Year 2007 and finalists in the TSA National Country
Songwriters Awards 2007 & 2008.
The Bobkatz
recorded a new album (as yet untitled) in Nashville late last year, again
under Producer Mike Flanders. The forthcoming single and film clip from that
album "The Long Haul" will be released in August 2008 and was mixed
in Nashville by Neil Young's Engineer Rob Clark.
